The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) will be hosting a webinar on Wednesday 5 July to present the proposed scope and delivery mechanism for the £185 million Phase 3 Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF).
The IETF supports businesses with high energy use to transition to a low carbon future, and to cut their energy bills and carbon emissions through increased energy efficiency and decarbonisation relating to the industrial process itself. It is a crucial part of the Government’s strategy for tackling climate change and reaching Net Zero by 2050.
This was demonstrated by the announcement in the recent Powering up Britain publication that the Government will launch Phase 3 of the IETF, worth up to £185 million for UK businesses, in early 2024.
This consultation event will present the proposed scope, eligibility rules and application process for the Phase 3 competitions to ensure that the IETF is still fit for purpose and will enable industrial sites in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to decarbonise their industrial processes.
Delegates will have the opportunity to ask any questions during the webinar to gain clarity on the proposed competitions before they submit their views through the formal consultation process. There will also be an opportunity for delegates to provide comments through facilitated discussion groups.
The webinar will benefit organisations who may wish to make an application to Phase 3 when it opens in 2024, including industrial sites who have not been able to take advantage of the programme in Phases 1 and 2.
The webinar will be of interest to:
To register for the webinar, please visit our registration site.
These events are aimed at all manufacturing companies with sites in the West Midlands, and are an opportunity to share your company’s experience of the impact of the energy cost crisis on your business; to provide direct feedback to government; and to propose mitigating actions.
The bulk of the events will be devoted to open discussion and listening to input from participants. There will be two short scene-setting presentations covering the state of the energy market and possible interventions.
You should come prepared to share specific examples of how the energy crisis has affected your business. All participants will be sent a pre-event (anonymous) survey to facilitate efficient discussion on the day.
The evidence gathered at the events will be collated and fed back to the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy for an immediate response. Everyone who participates in the evidence gathering events will be invited to webinars with BEIS officials to hear these responses during March.
The events are being held in both virtual and physical formats across the West Midlands during February and March. The physical events in the Black Country, Birmingham and Coventry will include refreshments (breakfast or light lunch).
If you can’t make any of the dates offered but feel you have evidence to contribute, please feel free to contact the Taskforce directly at evidence@wmindustrialenergy.co.uk.
